Security Task Manager Vs Bd
I recently used Security task manager to see which proccesses might have been infected and to my surprise manny BD exe-s were considered very harmfull and harmfull. For example:
BitDefender Security Service----C:\Program Files\Softwin\BitDefender10\vsserv.exe
bdss-----C:\Program Files\Common Files\Softwin\BitDefender Scan Server\bdss.exe
BDAgent Application----C:\Program Files\Softwin\BitDefender10\bdagent.exe
BitDefender Communicator Server----C:\Program Files\Common Files\Softwin\BitDefender Communicator\xcommsvr.exe
sockspy.dll located in C:\WINDOWS\system32\sockspy.dll
BitDefender Management Console----C:\Program Files\Softwin\BitDefender10\bdmcon.exe
Now should i be worryed?

no.
Security Task Manager is showing potential dangerous exe based on user submissions so its not 100% accurate.

I wouldn't say its so unreliable. It has its purpose like all other programs and like other process monitoring programs, you need to know exactly what process is what by first hand experience or research before doing anything. Caution needs to be taken when using such applications because they all have their faults.
This is exactly the same as those registry cleaner/optimizer programs out there. Almost all of them will find empty entries or other entries that should not be deleted, yet they still find them. To make matters worse, the developers put options in there to automatically delete all entries it finds when finishing the scan. Experience has lead to failed operating systems, programs and/or devices.0 -
Security Task Manager is not really usefull. Every trojan/virus can be renamed in any trusted ”exe” like explorer.exe like vssserv.exe , scvhost.exe ... so thats why those kind of programs are not really such a big deal in terms of security.
@mihai : nu sunt idiot si imi dau seama ca este general talk in engleza , eu te-am intrebat de ce nu ai postat pe varianta forumului in limba romana. doh0 -
Hello mihai_romanian
Most of the times it's because the processes aren't yet in the database so they just warn you that it might be suspecious. As mentioned before users decide to what they think about a particular process. Sometimes they flag something good as bad to say it very simple. You shouldn't be worried about the results. The most reliable website to enter processes or services that are running in task manager is this website

To confuse people malware uses iexplorer.exe instead of the legit process for IE which is iexplore.exe
Malware can modify svchost.exe. Some malware changes two letters scv.exe which isn't legit. Or often they misspell legit processes.0 -
There are many rules on which that analyses is based. I really don't know how it works exactly, but I'm sure you don't have anything to worry about.
