Hi board members.

Just installed it and playing with the settings.

Found out one thing I didnt like.

If I enable scan http traffic in real time protection settings.

I get a page not found in internet explorer

If I uncheck it = disable scan http traffic I can find the webpage that I was looking for.

I'm a member on several bulletin board and some work and some others I have to disable scan http traffic.

I dont know if this is a bug or if there is a fix for it or even why BD is giving me problems with bulletins boards.

I have not tested it enough to see if its only bulletins board that gives me problem or if there are other sites out there that doesnt work well with scan http traffic enabled.

Normally http traffic scanning can only slow down the speed of the displayed websites but can't cause page not found. It could be a temporary issue on that particular website. Can you please post some links to the forums so I can take a look at it?

I'm not sure if this is relevant, but when I have the http traffic scanning enabled in BDAV+ v.10, it completely blocks my AVG Antimalware program from connecting to the internet in order to update. When I uncheck the http traffic scanning, it works fine. So, I believe it is possible that the http traffic scanning blocks access to the internet in some things.

Did you make a rule for the update module of avg antimalware? I will see if I have the same problem.

Other programs updates just fine when http traffic scanning is enabled.

    Hi all.

Well I just turned scan http traffic off.

Dont know what the difference is with it on or off. BD still scan the websites gifs etc even if I turn it off.

SO I dont know what additional items are being scanned with scan http traffic.

Well I have not had time to test the settings more in depth.

I might even install my spysweeper again unless BD doesnt like it. The previous internet security software was not compatible with spysweeper.

I could install microsoft own antispyware but I'm not really that concerned with having another "real time" scanner. I do have some installed but nothing real time, and I hardly find anything serious anyway. I think the last time I had something serious was a long time ago.

I'm sorry that I cant give you the link since it content is not suited for all users.

Well I forgot to say that minus this glitch with scan http traffic.

I'm very impressed with BD scan settings otherwise. Now I just hope that BD virus, spyware etc signature files (defination files) can catch the bad stuff if I should come across it.

The performance with all scanning options on in BD beats my old f-secure with lightspeed.

Thats the reason why I bought it. I can tweak the settings to death more or less.

Fsecure with all options On bogged my comp to a crawl and the options was very very limited.

But to say something good about f-secure was that if i tweaked it down so to speak to get good performance I still never "catched" anything, either malware, spyware, trojan or viruses.

    Niels,

 I think that mysterious, unexplained "self-healing" factor must have recently operated, because now when I enable the http traffic scanning, AVG Antimalware looks like it is updating, or at least connecting and searching for an update. So, perhaps there is no real connection between this and the AVG. I probably didn't previously have a rule made regarding the update, because when I tried it now, BD firewall asked about permitting AVG to connect.

    Thanks again for your help!

  • Hello cadillact

You can send me a personal message containing these links. I will take a look at it.

BitDefender can catch most malware even the some of the nastiest but you need separate antispyware products to be fully protected.

Privacy control blocks ******,cookies,registry,... Normally the realtime protection will not scan the entire internet traffic when the feature is disabled but it will still scan your temp folders.
