Ok, I checked and BitDefender doesn't have a popup blocker. Using BitDefender Total Security 2008 and Internet Explorer 7, I am able to open links in a new window. What made you think that BitDefender is the reason for your problem, did it start after installing BitDefender?
-
What version of Windows, IE and BitDefender are you using? When asking for help, you should provide as much details as possible, if you expect anyone to figure out what's the problem. I don't remember if BitDefender has a popup blocking function, but if it does, did you try to disable it and see if the problem persists?

Try to set the BitDefender services to Manual startup, instead of Automatic. That can be done in Control Panel > Administrative tools> Services. Also, disable any associated startup entries in the Msconfig utility (type msconfig in the Run field of the Start menu). Even if this works though, once you start the program, the…

Hello, I took a look at your log but couldn't find anything bad. Maybe because it's 1:20 AM, but anyway, while waiting for someone else to check your log as well, I can suggest a program I've been using lately which proves to be very good at blocking and disabling malware, even when you install it on an infected system.…

Warning! Be careful to make distinction before the svchost.exe that is located in Windows\System32 and the one located in the Temp folder! That's impossible with Task manager in Windows XP. If she fixes the registry entries, it won't load the next reboot and she can delete the files manually then.

Download the installer of the appropriate BitDefender version to your new computer and run it. Then enter your license details, and you're set.

Here is the URL you requested! You may now Download it yourself Thinstall Version 3.207 is the Exact File I referred to ~Link removed~ Oh, And your an Idiot so Ban me Now Please! Corrupted You're just making a fool of yourself, talking like that to mods who by the way react so politely to your insulting childish outbursts.…

The report says some files have been deleted, but probably the swchost.exe remained. Please download this program: http://www.filehippo.com/download/0e0a4476...3c07c/download/ , run it and click Do a system scan and safe logfile. Save the file to your desktop and then post here the contents.

The reason why move failed for the first two entries, is because they are memory dump scans - it means the file is currently loaded in memory. Open the task manager and kill the noskrnl.exe process, then go to C:\Windows and manually delete the file. Run another scan to make sure you're clean.

Lately I've been using Threatfire, which is a real-time behaviour monitor. It doesn't conflict with BitDefender and is supposed to prevent not only spyware but also unknown viruses from doing damage, as programs with suspicious or malicious behaviour (in case BitDefender misses) are detected and blocked.
-
In theory it is possible, but it's impossible to tell for sure what happened. Your easiest option is to use your Windows installation CD to perform a repair install.

Hello, you can't have two real-time antivirus scanners installed at the same time, that causes problems. Why are you still using BitDefender 8, that's too old? I suggest that you run the BitDefender online scanner, it's very good at cleaning viruses. http://www.bitdefender.com/scan8/ie.html
-
Yes, it's safe to delete these files.
-
It takes a while to group them, how long did you wait?
-
I also suggest that you set your real time protection to Aggressive.

It sounds like he's already typed the reg code, but it still showing as trial. The 735 days are the license term, apparently 2 years. Does it show a registration screen when you boot, ezgotxtman?

To quarantine. Run the scan again to see if they're still detected. If not, just empty your quarantine.
-
Maybe they're self-extracting archives? If that is the case, the exe files are not viruses themselves, they are only programmed to extract the archive. But why not run a context menu scan and check what's the error BitDefender displays? After you try to delete them and it says it can't be deleted, click on the name of the…

I've seen antiviruses that can delete files inside archives, or delete the entire archive, depending on settings. Another thing that comes to mind as an option is to rename the infected archive, adding the word INFECTED to the file name. That way when you come across the archive you'll know it contains a virus.
-
If a virus is inside a zip file or another archive, it won't be deleted. I also think that's a weakness, but on the other hand, the moment you try to unzip the virus, it will be blocked and deleted/quarantined or whatever you've set it to do. There are some types of archives or databases that can't be modified by 3rd…

Your point? If the malware is archived, then BitDefender won't delete it. If you unpack the malware, then it'll be deleted. That's the best guess I can make based on the less-than-insufficient information you've provided.
-
The remaining issue are in two categories - one is an infected email in your Outlook Express inbox. BitDefender can't delete a specific email in the database, you need to find it in your inbox and delete it manually. The rest of the infected files have been backed up by System Restore, so you need to purge it. That is done…

Does BitDefender detect that file? If yes, run a deep system scan. If it doesn't detect it, attach it to the Malware Talk forum so researchers create signatures for it, then on the next day update BD and run a deep system scan.
-
It takes just some javascript code to close your browser window and display a popup. That's not something BitDefender or any other antivirus can stop. For a better browser protection, you may want to start using Firefox, and also SpywareBlaster, which blocks malicious web contents.
-
Updating once a week isn't a good idea, because you won't have signature protection from new viruses for several days. What's the problem with the automatic update, when is the last time it updated?
-
No, it won't.
-
Hi, are you sure you're getting the error 403? Because this thread is about error 404, which is a different thing. Anyway, did you read the first page of this thread, and did you try what I suggested here: http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?s=&...ost&p=14954 ?

To be honest, I didn't understand what's the problem exactly, so I don't know how could have the support. Not having time for troubleshooting means you should have a skilled system administrator to make the right decisions, or at least inform yourself better. There is no logic in your assumption that you can install a new…

Set Windows to show the hidden and system files and folders in Control Panel > Folder Options. Once you can see your folders, modify their properties and remove the hidden attribute.
