  • BD is still hitting around 127 MB to 130 MB of RAM. Could there be a file on my PC which BDSS.EXE finds suspect? Dave
  • Try this. Make sure that you have the option: Show all files and folders even the ones that are critical to the Win 2000 OS. Delete the Softwin and BD folders in Program Files, and Program Files\Common Files. Ditto for those in Documents and Settings\YOUR USER NAMES (PLURAL) HERE\Application Data...\Bitdefender or Softwin.…
  • Each time I say that I'm DONE with BD, I purchase another license. Go figure? Dave
  • The inconsistent updates are causing some serious system errors in Maxthon, Opera, and even IE. Several mshtml errors with BD AS enabled. This is on 2000 and XP. Strange! Dave
  • It's working off and on. The servers seem to be flaking out -- probably overloaded. It lends itself to "the thrill" of being a BD user! Sysyems are 9x/ME 2000 and XP Pro
  • I have been getting "NO UPDATE AVAILABLE" since Friday. What The BLEEP? Dave
  • Hi, please add me to the long list of users with the vsserv.exe unavailable problem as well. Pleas email me the troubleshooting details. Add me too. This BD is VERY, VERY GOOD stuff, but ever so often, it drives me UPT (up the wall)! Dave
  • If you are running 9x, remove it. Delete the Softwin folder in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files\Common Files. Ditto C:\Windows\Application Data and C:\All Users\Application Data. Delete all the stuff in the C:\Windows\Temp Folder. And Reboot. Reinstall and download the large update file. Reboot. And see if that helps.…
  • Please contact LiveAssistance (Customer Service) for a new license code. It's free. Cris. EDIT: Topic moved to the correct section. Thanks Cris, and sorry for posting in the wrong place. Guess I need to get some new glasses! Dave

  • Hello Dave, What BitDefender version are you using? Cris. I'm using BD 10 Free. Sorry for posting in the wrong thread. The new BD Free wouldn't run on one a PC, so I loaded a copy of BD 10 Free AFTER the BD 10 AV Plus expired. The Free 10 is showing same expiration date as the paid AV 10 expiration date. Any ideas on how I…

  • Ok still the system stray icon says. Some modules are disabled. The slider is all the way up on status. Don't understand this at all. Also I have mIRC it found worm don't know how to fix that. Those other modules shall remain diabled, and you'll get only the on-access and B-HAVE protection with the free version. To enable…
  • I already have Spybot and a firewall program install on the computer. Also why does do auto updates everytime I open my computer? BTW You may want to get WinPatrol for for your PC. It's free from Majorgeeks or www.winpatrol.com DON'T DISABLE AOTOMATIC UPDATES! DIABLING ATOMATIC UPDATES ALSO DISABLES BASIC PROTECTION! Set…
  • I'm using Windows 98. Just downloaded and installed Bitdefender v10. The icon states some modules are disabled. What should I do? If you chose the COMPLETE option during installation, you're OK because BD 10 Free has on-access, and B-HAVE anti-malware enabled for Win 9x/ME ONLY!. If you DID NOT choose the COMPLETE install…
  • The P3 600 has 512 MB and the P2 400 has 448. Would that work OK? Thanks, Dave
  • I've had this problem too, because the BHAVE virtual machine is checking for adware, malware, spyware, etc. The good news is that the BHAVE VM gets to know eventually which apps are good apps and which apps exhibit malicious behavior, but the BHAVE VM takes time to inspect all the apps VERY CLOSELY before it makes up its…
  • I bought BD 10 because it's great for my older PCs. With 400 MHz and 600 MHz processors, would it be wise to attempt an upgrade to 2008/9? Are there certain features that can be switched off so that 2008 or 2009 would work well on "neolithic era" PCs? All are very good AVs -- even the good ole free AV! Thanks, Dave
  • Can anyone tell me how to get my money back becuase this software is CRAP! I have had nothing but problems on a fresh install of windows XP. My computer contstantly locks up, bitdefender does not respond and it doesn't update. This software is not worth the money so buyer "BEWARE" and the support ###### ###### Would you be…
  • I also have a realtime question. Although the good old BD AV version 10 rears its head when it seems to sense danger on a 9x/ME PC, I'm wondering whether BD AV 10 is merely reacting to a bona fide threat in that its virus sigs may be written for the NT kernel, in which case, there is but a false sense of security for all…
  • Hey, ziplock, you ain't alone! Dave P.S. I still ave some twisted love-hate relationship with BD, and it'll on my PCs again by tomorrow.
  • Back up your registries, and in XP there can be several. Create a restore point. Fire up regedit and search the string "unisntall" (NO QUOTES!). Find th BD keys(s) and wipe those out. Next, find the BD msi file on your PC which installed BD; e.g., it could be names 12667bd.msi. Back to regedit and wipe the BD msi keys.…
  • I have BD crashing after certain updates on a far too frequent basis, and on 3 PCs! What gives with the update server freezing BD? Especially BD AV 10 PAID!
  • I'm at least the third person posting about this problem, namely after Oct. 30 auto update always fails with either invalid MD5 or I/O timeout error, even if there is no firewall running, or with a properly configured firewall. Please look into this. I'm personally running BD 2008. Generally, these errors mean nothing…
  • The BD Free manual updates are over 6 days old! Does this mean that BD Free is served only limited, weely updates. Or is BD Free a thing of the past? Or is tere a new version of BD Free on the way? Or any of the preceding? Would someone from Softwin please comment, because I just purcheased 2 BD 10 AV Plus licences for Win…
