VPN Security
Hi VPN users
On a tech. forum one member put up severe criticisms against Bitdefender's VPN. I am appending some of those, and welcome your comments. ( Bd's Tech. Support could not assist with these issues.)

"Don't use Bitdefender, and especially not their VPN."
"If you do any investigation into bitdefender VPN, you’ll see they have zero transparency report for sales of data, nor do they even list their worldwide servers used for VPN endpoints".
"They're regularly picked up by both governments and regulators because they don’t make any of this clear".
"And there’s a reason why an established company like Bitdefender would stoop to these levels, because anyone on windows since windows 7 knows that 3rd party AVs are now redundant as full security is built into windows itself. All they do is cost you lots of needless expenditure, slow down your pc unnecessarily and at best have the same security, but generally actually reduce security. These companies know full well that they’re redundant, so they target people that don’t understand technology by misleading marketing to sell extremely expensive subscriptions, but none of the software included is actually doing your system any good, in fact it’s mostly negative".
"If you do any investigation into bitdefender VPN, you’ll see they have zero transparency report for sales of data, nor do they even list their worldwide servers used for VPN endpoints".
"There is a reason for that, it’s because none of it is their infrastructure as the VPN isn’t theirs, it’s simply a rebadged Hotspot Shield which isn’t actually a VPN anyway. None of your data is encrypted, plus they sell and track all data anyway".
"But you could have easily found this out yourself with the information you have been given.
To go into some background, the ONLY VPN services that are actually secure are ones not bound by the 5 Eyes agreements (now also the 9 and 14 eyes), Pango's Hotspot Shield is US based, which falls in the 5 Eyes, this means that they HAVE to store logs and share data at request, they will state they don't and that they don't sell any data, but this is just MARKETING and has been proven false by their jurisdiction and their persistent refusal for any transparency to customers. Bitdefender will state they don't hold logs, I'm sure that's true from their end, but the VPN is not theirs, the traffic is all going through Hotspot shields servers, so Bitdefender have zero control over what's logged and sold".
"….marketing information from a company, (referring to Bd) any marketing info is totally irrelevant. Companies can literally say whatever they want, they fudge results based on unrealistic testing scenarios".
"All 3rd party AVs know they are completely irrelevant, and push people by fear mongering into buying stuff that they no longer need".
Never trust any marketing, it’s total garbage. Always go by verified 3rd party reviews
"They (Bd) don’t offer anything that’s actually worthwhile".

Some of the content above is plain untrue wrt Windows totally ousting the need for any 3rd party AV, and ref. to Bd's VPN endpoint security AV.
I look forward to any comments.
