Bitdefender is of course designed to have a minimal impact on system resources.
It operates efficiently in the background, ensuring that it doesn’t interfere with the performance of resource-intensive tasks like gaming. However, depending on the conditions, specifications, and user activity on the devices where it is installed, its performance may vary. The software has to coexist with a wide array of user-installed applications, running applications, services, and system processes in real-time, which can lead to a dynamic behavior. Scanning also involves intensive processes that require significant resources to analyze files, folders, and system areas for threats, so if you are also gaming during this process, you may notice a slight drop in performance. Nevertheless, this shouldn't be a significant slow down. The temporary increase in resource usage that occurs during the Bitdefender system scan and quick scan is normal, but this can be avoided altogether by configuring the Game Profile that postpones specific antivirus tasks during gaming.

The dedicated "Game Mode” basically optimizes system resources to prioritize the gaming experience.
It temporarily suspends non-essential background processes and notifications while you’re gaming, ensuring a smooth and uninterrupted gaming session. You can find more information in the guide below:

TIP: If Bitdefender does not automatically enter 'Game Profile' when you launch a certain game or app, you can manually add the application to the Games list.
