I contacted support and was told I had no firewall and needed to purchase Network Firewall Security ($499). Does anyone know what this "plan" is and why I was asked to purchase? Was this a scam?

Whose Support did you contact? What is their phone number / support channel? There is no Bitdefender firewall home security plan for that amount. Could be a scam, especially if you called said support using contact details that came from adware/pop-ups which claimed an infection or other issues with your PC.

Kindly share more information so we can find out who they are and raise awareness if this is indeed a scam.
