Web Content Control - Not Blocking Web Categories in the Policy
We have configured web content control policy that blocks specific certain web categories.
Recently, we have received reports that the Bitdefender web content control is not working. The examples sites listed on are not blocked, e.g.
http://www.bet365.com.
http://www.redtube.com
We notice that many sites with HTTP protocol are not blocked, and all sites with HTTPS are not blocked.
Per
, under the Network Protection > Content Control > Web Access Control, we should see Block, Schedule, and Allow. We don't see these radio options; we just see the Schedule assign drop-down list. Our schedule is "Used" under the Configuration profiles > Web Access Control Scheduler page.
Does anyone have experienced similar issues (i.e. sites not blocked and ALL HTTPS sites are not blocked)?

Hello @tann ,
The article that you shared if applicable when you want to block specific websites. If you want to block categories of websites you can use this article:
Regarding the issue that you have shared, in order to ensure a website is blocked you will need to:
- Ensure that the Network Protection Module is installed on that machine
- Ensure that the Scan HTTPs option enabled
- Ensure that the exclusions made in the policy are correct (Your policy - Network Protection - Content Control - Web Access Control settings - add the website that you want to block). Test with different combinations including wildcards based on the website URL format that you want to block.
If you still have issue after following these steps please reach out to our Enterprise Support Team and our engineers will be able to investigate it in more detail.
Kind Regards,Andrei

We have followed the specified documentation, .
1. Created the Web Access Control Scheduler
2. Assigned web access control scheduler to the policy1. Ensure that the Network Protection Module is installed on that machine
On the Mac machine, there is no Network Protection Module listed under the machine's Protection tab. Do you mean Content Control? On the Mac machine's Bitdefender app, we notice the Web Access Control is Off. However, we know that the policy has enabled Content Control on the Bitdefender admin console. Is there any issue if the Web Access Control is off?
2. Ensure that the Scan HTTPs option enabled
Per the Bitdefender admin console's Policy > Network Protection > General Settings, the Scan HTTPS is only for Windows machines. We are using Mac machines in our environment. Do we still need to enable Scan HTTPS for Mac machines?0 -
Hello @tann
- Yes, in the BEST interface it will be displayed as Content Control
- Web Access Control needs to be on, because he is responsible for blocking the pages that you have added
- Intercept Encrypted Traffic → Scan HTTPS should be available and enabled also for endpoints with Mac
As per our documentation, I have not seen it anywhere mentioning that this feature is not available on Macs.
Kind Regards,
Andrei
