Hi,

I believe many people have this error in Vista and I'd like to suggest something to the BD developers.

File System Filter 'bdfsfltr' (Version 6.0, 31/12/2007 2:12:12 AM) failed to attach to volume '\Device\CdRom0'. The filter returned a non-standard final status of 0xc0000013. This filter and/or its supporting applications should handle this condition. If this condition persists, contact the vendor.

Why do we only see this in Vista, but not in XP? This is what I noticed...

In XP, if you look into the registry, Windows register the CD/DVD-ROM with a string value of DeviceName as "CdRom0".

HKLM\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\Scsi\Scsi Port 0\Scsi Bus 0\Target Id 0\Logical Unit Id 0

Class Name:        <NO CLASS>

Value 0
  Name:            Identifier
  Type:            REG_SZ
  Data:            XXXXXXX DVD-RAM XXXXX

Value 1
  Name:            Type
  Type:            REG_SZ
  Data:            CdRomPeripheral

Value 2
  Name:            DeviceName
  Type:            REG_SZ
  Data:            CdRom0

However, Vista doesn't have / use that [Value 2] DeviceName, all you see in Vista are [Value 0] Identifier and [Value 1] Type. Apparently, Vista doesn't need or register that [Value 2] DeviceName key. If you try to add it manually, it will not work, the key will be gone as soon as you reboot the machine. It seems like Vista just register what it needs.

So this is a problem with BD and the bdfsfltr file, because it will not find "CdRom0" anywhere in the registry.

Do the BD developers read this forum? If yes, then I hope you guys can come up with a patch or something.

Thanks.
