Cannot Start Vius Shiled Service After Installation Of Internet Security V10
After installation of Internet Security v10, Virus Shield service cannot be started. User was added as Administrator to Administrators Group and has all rights. Other services are running fine. Reboot does not help.
Running Windows XP SP2 with the latest updates from MS
When trying manually to start the service, then getting the error message:
Could not start the BitDefender Virus Shield service on Local Computer
Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
Tried to reinstall --> does not help.
BD Support, please help ASAP
Thanks

Hello
What was your previous antivirus? It could be that there are still remaints after you uninstalled it. That could cause also this kind of behaviour. Try to restart the BitDefender Communicator service. If that fails put in your installation disc or double click on the installer if you downloaded it and choose for modify/repair. Finally download this uninstall tool: http://www.bitdefender.com/uninstall reboot your pc afterwards and reinstall BitDefender.

Sorry I did not mention it. I used BD Uninstall tool each time I have removed the BD. Prior to BD I had AVG free edition. I think i uninstalled it properly because I could not find any of its running. I am using the latest downloaded BD release of Internet Security without Firewall and Parent Control (I dont' need it)
Thanks
Guys,
Have you ever tested BD in multi-profile environment? I have 5 profiles, where 3 of them do not have password at all. Moreover, I am using simplified login (not secure one).
I also tried to change logon parameters for that service by using Administrator with the password -> same result.

Hello
I am only a volunteer. So I don't work for Softwin (BitDefender).
To be sure that AVG is uninstalled completely download the following programs:
microsoft installer cleanup: http://download.microsoft.com/download/e/9...1bd/msicuu2.exe
Install it and see if you find any remaints to AVG or Grisoft. If available select them and press on remove. Confirm the message.
ccleaner: http://www.filehippo.com/download/9838386a...32ae2/download/
Do not forget to uncheck yahoo toolbar during installation. After installation use the cleanup function and the problem function. Fix every problem that is found.
Regcleaner: http://www.worldstart.com/weekly-download/.../regcleaner.exe Install it look to any references to AVG or Grisoft and check them after that press on remove selected.
Now go to start, run,at the run dialog box type services.msc and see if you services with AVG or Grisoft in the name. If you find them doubleclick on it choose stop and by startup type choose disabled confirm by pressing on apply and ok. After that go to start,my computer, double click on the icon of your hard disc or partition where windows is installed on,program files, common files, delete the folder with the name AVG or Grisoft if present. Reboot your pc afterwards.
BitDefender should work on different accounts. You can only change the settings on an administrator account.

Yes, I have multiple accounts on my PC (4, to be exact) and BD works fine on all of them.
