Trouble Installing Bitdefender 2008 On Vista.

Hi Guys,

Ive been a huge supporter of BitDefender for many years. For the most part it has always been very straight forward and works very well.

The problem Im having is on a Vista system. Im trying to install Bitdefender 2009 Antivirus for a client but the installer fails to launch. Has anyone seen this before? Im new to Vista and already dreading dealing with this OS. There really isnt much on the screen that I can notice cause when I double click to install, it flickers quickly and disappears.

Any help would be much appreciated. If theres anything I can provide please let me know...

Do you have Vista SP1 ?

Hello Mateo!

First of all make sure you are using the latest installation kit available: (is it a 32bit or a 64bit system?)

for 32bit: http://download.bitdefender.com/windows/de...us_2009_32b.exe

for 64bit: http://download.bitdefender.com/windows/de...us_2009_64b.exe

If that does not work try installing directly from the msi packages:

for 32bit: http://download.bitdefender.com/windows/de...si2009/bdav.msi

for 64bit: http://download.bitdefender.com/windows/de...si2009/bdav.msi

Are you using an Administrator account? (if not, try using an Administrator and see if it changes anything).

Is your Vista up to date? (if not, make sure you update it)

Hi guys,

crysty2k5: The system has SP1 and is a 32b system. Corneliu: Thank you. I ran through your list. The installer was a 32 bit. Everything okay there and had administrator account. After spending about an hour on updates.. presto I was welcomed with the install screen. Thank you guys so much. Been scratching my head about this one for 2 weeks.
