Issues With Bd Antivirus 09

Options

Hi,

I've had BitDefender Antivirus 09 for less than two weeks. Before that, I had BD antivirus 08, which worked fine. This latest version however seems to be full of flaws, not to mention the company's policies.

My main annoyance is that the scan feature doesn't always work. At the moment, it is telling me that there is one issue to be fixed, namely a malware scan. It claims that I haven't scanned for malware since I installed it, yet I ran it two days ago. Not only that, but it won't even begin the scan when I click on the 'fix all issues' or 'fix this issue > fix' options.

I have restarted my computer, but this hasn't worked. There is no way of turning BD antivirus off so that I can restart the program as far as I can tell. Even task manager can't stop it (operation could not be completed, access denied) even though I have admin privilages.

On top of that, I'd like to let people know that I was not told about the autorenewal feature when I purchased 08 from Promega Systems a year ago, or indeed when I bought 09 to replace it. After some very repetitious emails from BD customer support, I now believe that I have been taken off their autorenewal list, but I wouldn't be surprised if come February 2010 I get charged for it. It is very underhand of them to employ this practice, to the point where it borders on outright theft.

All in all, I can safely say that I will not be using BD antivirus again. However, as I am stuck with it for another 354 days, I'd be very grateful if someone could help me fix these pending issues!

Thanks in advance

Will

  • Now it won't even allow me to run deep or full system scans. In advanced mode the options are simply not there, and in basic mode they are inoperable. <img class=" />

  • We have a patch that should correct the issue that you have encountered. I will send it to you by e-mail in a couple of minutes and you can follow the steps listed in the message whenever you have the time.
