Hello hannahboo,
What version of BitDefender do you use?
Cris.
hi cris im using bit defender 90 -
bdmcon.exe (BitDefender Management Console) is the main graphical user interface module, which also shows up in the system tray.
Since BitDefender v9 is a very old version (more than 3 years old, if I'm not mistaking), I doubt that anyone from development will look for bugs in such an old version. But I could give you some workarounds:
- before shutting down, just right click on the BitDefender tray icon and select Close (or Exit, I don't remember what it was called exactly). Then bdmcon should close correctly and there won't be problems when you shutdown.
- when that popup appears, just click End now. Since the system is already shutting down, it doesn't matter if bdmcon is forced to end rather than closing by itself.
As a side-question: do you use any other security applications that might interfere with BitDefender?

In order to be able to assist you further, please let us know:
- what BitDefender product/version you are using;
- what is your operating system;
- are there any other security solutions on the same PC, besides BitDefender?
