Windows Terminal Services Vs Vulnerability.
Dear readers.
It surprises me that a security company as Bitdefender is dependent on a service as Windows Terminal Services. Any feature or technology that provides a new way for authorized users to access a system remotely will also present a potential way for unauthorized users to gain access.
With that in mind I recommend you to set Remote Registry service inactive (Disabled), as long as you don’t have any need to remote control your computer. The best thing to do is to make an administrator account and a user’s account, both with secure password. Then you log in on the users (your) account and administrate your computer from there. If you need to administrate something, just right click on the file and choose “run as” administrator. In this way you don’t need to expose your computer unnecessary for outside threats.
I also recommend you to invest in a router (+BitDefender). I use a router (hardware firewall or gateway) + software firewall and antivirus/spyware.

Remote Registry Service - Enables remote users to modify registry settings on your computer. If this service is stopped, the registry can be modified only by users on this computer.
There are some services that you can turn of depending what you are using or not.

If you are going to format (erase) your hard disc and reinstall the system (recommended couple of times a year at least) I suggest you to unplug your internet connection until you installed your firewall & antivirus/spyware software. In that way you secure your self as much you can for unwanted intrusion.
Don’t forget to have the entire backup safe on another hard disc or partition first.
Better safe then sorrow.
Wish you all the best!
Yours, WOLF.
