How Do You Exclude A File From Virus Scan?
I have a file that is sent to quarantine every time a full scan is done. I must go to the quarantine page and restore it each time.
Is there a way to flag a file to NOT be picked up as containing a virus? I did not find an area within BitDefender to list a file to be ignored.
I know how to exclude folders so that is not what I am asking.
Thanks,
Chuck

Ypu have to open BD console, go to Antivirus -> Custom level and click on the "Exclude path from scan". Then browse to the file's location and add it.

As I stated: I know how to exclude folders/path.
I want to exclude a FILE.
Your reply shows how to do a path/folder. It will not allow you to select a file.0 -
Sorry for the misundesrtanding. You can't exclude a particular file from scanning.
You can only exclude an enitre folder.

Hello chuck
If you think that it's a false positiv. Than make a topic in the malware section and add the particular file in password protected archive with this password: "infected" (without the quotes). You can do this for bypass it place that file in a new folder and exclude that folder in the scan part and realtime part.

I've excluded a couple of paths and still the scanner is reporting on the files. Am I missing something?
I'm using BD v10 build 247. See this image...

Hello garberfc,
Normally, that shouldn't happen.
But either way, the safest solution is to put the reported files in a ZIP file, protected by the password infected and attach the files in a new thread in the Malware section. The BitDefender Virus Analysts will take a look at the files and they will remove detection, if necessary. This way, you won't need to exclude the and you'll also help other users that use the same files (because they might believe they got infected when, in fact, the files are clean).

Hello garberfc
That is only for realtime protection that it shouldn't be scanned. During a normal scan it will be still being detected. If you want to exclude it there you must go to the antivirus section, scanning, right click on the a scan task and click on change scan target now you can press on add new folder or file. All what you don't want to be scanned you have to uncheck press on ok.
Best regards
