Password Issue Noted By Bitdefender

I have two computers, a desktop, hp a1410, and a new Eee notebook. I installed Bit defender on both of these computers. After installation on the hp desktop I encountered a situation where Windows was asking me for a password, and I had never assigned either an Administrator or User password to the system. I was stumped and then a friend suggested I boot into safe mode, which I did and some how (cannot recall now the exact situation) I was able to get back to where the password request was not appearing.

About the same time in here I installed a security update to windows and lo and behold I started to get the demand for a password again. I felt the security update was causing this to happen so started a trouble report with Microsoft. I ordered the netbook so I would have a way to work with Microsoft on the issue.

Since the new netbook did not have anti-virus software I installed the trial version of BitDefender on this computer. Apparently I had the Scan for vulnerabilities feature turned on and must have set a dialog box to alert me to create a password at the next boot event. This morning when I booted I got the windows password dialog, which asks for an old password in order to set a new password. Coincidentally, I just installed the very same Windows security update to the Netbook before this password issue came up on the Netbook today. I never assigned an Administrator or User password for the netbook (like the desktop computer).

I simply dismissed the dialog, went into BitDefender and unchecked the option to strengthen the passwords for the user and administrator account. Now I do not get the password advisory, which is what I want. There is no reason for me to lock my computers since I am the only one using them and it is just an extra step.

However, I am now concerned that BitDefender may be at the bottom of why I cannot access my a1410. In researching this issue I believe there is a way to use my restore disks to go into a Recovery Console and set a restore point before the trouble began.

I would also like to know if anyone else had a similar problem and if so did it trace out to BitDefender. What was the action taken to recover.

I may have reported this issue to BitDefender techsupport, but I cannot find a record of the submission.

Thanks
