I don't think BD 8 free is Vista compatible, because nobody worked on that version for a long time.
But, since it's 100% free, you can just try it and let us know the result.

BitDefender 8.0 only supports windows 98 se,ME,NT,2000 or XP. You can try the comptability wizard but the chance is very little that it will work rightclick on the installer choose properties,comptability choose windows xp sp2 confirm by pressing on apply and ok.

Even if it'll support Vista, I don't think that it will be stable.... However, there are chances that it will work properly. The only way to find it is to try. Good luck!
