Forwarding Ports Help!
I am running BitDefender Internet Security 2008 with Windows Vista Home Basic 32-bit.
I need to open some ports for Steam (where I want to host a game server). Game mode doesn't help.
I need to open these ports without having to set a rule with an application.
Is there a way I can do this like its done on routers website?
I checked portforwarding.com and I can't find any help on doing this on bit defender.
The PortChecker program I have says they are closed.
I have to open ports 27000-27015. I don't know what IP I should do.
THANKYOU!

Hello foxy747,
The firewall does NOT open ports, applications do that. The firewall's job is to monitor and control (allow/deny) the way that applications open the ports.
This being said...
YES, you DO have to set a rule for an application.I need to open these ports without having to set a rule with an application.
To be exact, you have to set a rule for the application that runs the game server. Create a new rule, choose the path to the game server (and it's process), set the Protocol to All, check all protocols, select all adapter types, set the Action to Allow, set the Direction to Both and check Any for all IPs and Ports.
Add that rule to the Firewall list and if you still have problems, read this: http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=4421
