Emergency Cd Network Problems
Hi
I've been having problems using the emergency CD (bitdefender installation CD) in different platforms.
1. LAPTOP TOSHIBA TECRA A6: When I boot the knoppix system and I try to configure the internet connection it says the network card is unsupported
2. DESKTOP SYSTEM WITH A USB MODEM (THOMSON SPEEDTOUCH ST-330): Also booting the knoppix. It detects the modem (It appears when right clicking -> Admin ->USB monitor), but I don't know where is it exactly mapped. I thought it might be /dev/ttyUSB0 but when I set this device as modem in pppconfig it doesn't do anything. I'm not expert in PPP connections though.
Questions:
a. Is there any way I can include support for my laptop's network card into the knoppix system?
b. Where should be the modem actually mapped in the /dev filesystem

Hello Boris Gruschenko
a. Try this : http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Knowing_Knoppix/Networking First try what you find under automatic setup if that fails try manual setup
b. You need a specific driver for a speedtouch modem: http://speedtouch.sourceforge.net/index.php?/index.en.html If that fails you have to download and run this ****** by clicking on it: http://kanotix.com/files/speedtouch-pppoatmconf.bash If it's the only usb device attachted then it is dev/ttyUSB0.
