Bitdefender 2009 Prevents Veetle Plugin From Loading

Hi, I work for Veetle Inc. (http://www.veetle.com). We produce a live-video browser plugin for FF and IE that does not function when user has BitDefender installed on their windows machine. We have several million downloads and it works out of the box with all other major anti-viral/ software firewall products, except for BitDefender. We suspect BitDefender may be flagging our plugin .dll and preventing it from loading in the browser. We'd like to understand why this is and hopefully work with you guys to ensure we can co-exist peacefully.

thank you,

Ethan.

    Hello ethan Wang ,

Lets check if the BitDefender Antiphishing toolbar is causing this . You have bellow, the steps that will help you disable the Antiphishing Toolbar in Internet Explorer 7 :

    1. Open Internet Explorer and click on Tools from the top and then choose Manage Add-ons->Enable or disable Add-ons.

    2. Make sure that under Show is selected the option "Add-ons currently added in Internet Explorer ".

    3. Select the add-on called BitDefender Toolbar and from Settings please choose the option Disable then click on Ok.

    4. Restart Internet Explorer and let us know if the same issue occurs .

    Thank you .

  • Hi Alex, your instructions worked. Thank you. However we are obviously a legitimate company and we'd like to understand how we can avoid getting tagged as an phishing program? We don't want to tell our users to turn of any antiphishing in order to use Veetle.

    thank you,

    Ethan.

  • A correction. The above instruction worked for FF 3. We've found that our plugin *does* work out of the box with at least IE7 on Vista Home and XP SP3.

With FF3, we had to explicitly disable the anti-phishing extension. Disabling it via the Bitdefender browser toolbar or via the Bitdefender program UI proper

or whitelisting www.veetle.com did not work. So we'd like to understand what is required to allow both Veetle's plugin and Bitdefender's extension co-exist peacefully

    in FF3.
