Bit Defender Stopping Windows Repair

Hello,

I am tring to repair a windows installation that has bit defender 2009 installed.

here is a breakdown of my situation, I have a client who has bit defender installed on his system, which recently was infected with trojan.mebroot.B. I have gonbe through removal of the said virus, and also run the recovery console and run fixboot, & fixmbr, I also had to do a repair of the windows installation. I now have an issue where while the windows repair is running during the driver installation, the mouse and keyboard lock up, and I get promted with one of those unsigned driver dialogs, for the bit defender NDIS filet driver miniport, which is completely halting my repair process, I have been unable to click yes or no, and the keboard is completely locked out and unuseable... is there a way to possibly get rid of the driver if I were to plug the drive in as a usb drive and access the file structure from anothercomputer, so that when I try to boot from the drive again this dialog will not pop up and halt my repair of the windows installation? can I delete the program files folder, and root out the system files, and reg keys so that I can get the repair finished?

  • Hello isworks ,

    We suggest you using the BitDefender Rescue CD in order to remove the BitDefender files that are causing this issue , following the steps bellow :

    1. Create a BitDefender Rescue CD

    - in order to create the BitDefender Rescue CD you have to first download the latest image (the .iso file) from:

    http://download.bitdefender.com/rescue_cd/ and burn it on a CD or DVD using a tool of your choice;

    - the freeware ISO Burner can be used to create the disc (save and extract the tool to a location of your choice, start IsoBurner.exe, if not already set - select the image file location and the recorder, choose "BURN"):

    RECOMMENDED: http://software.lsoft.net/Iso-burner.zip alternative: http://www.bitdefender.com/files/Knowledge.../Iso-burner.zip

    2. Insert the BitDefender Rescue CD into your CD drive and restart your computer.

    3. Choose to "Start knoppix" when you are presented with the boot menu (if you do not choose within 30 seconds the computer will continue booting normally) .

    4. BitDefender will start scanning the content of your computer as soon as the Knoppix is loaded . Please stop the scan because we do not need to do this .

    5. Go to the mounted partition (the Hard Disk Part. icon) .

    6. Browse and delete the following items by right clicking then selecting "Delete" from the File/Dir submenu ):

    -under the "Program Files" folder right click on "BitDefender " and choose "Delete" then look after the "Common Files" folder open it and then right click on "BitDefender" and choose "Delete" ;

    - both folders , contains sub-folders and every time a file will be deleted you will be asked if you agree with this action ;

    - in order to overcome this sittuation , when the "Delete" window will be displayed, check the option called "Quiet " then click on "Yes"

    7. After you finish deleting these folders please go to the next location : Windows/system32/drivers and look after the following files : "bdfm.sys" , "bdfndisf.sys" ,"bdfsfltr.sys","bdhv.sys","BDVEDISK.sys" . Right click on each one of them and choose "Delete" .

    Close all the windows , restart your computer and try one more time to repair Windows . If the process is successfully finished please save and run our uninstall tool from the next link:http://www.bitdefender.com/uninstall and then install BitDefender one more time .

    Thank you .
