Vsserv.exe Memory Leak?

A few weeks ago, I got the Vista64 error where it asks you to fix the error: "Your system has never been scanned for malware." I downloaded the patch and got my scan going, but while I was experiencing the error, I also began experiencing problems with my memory.

I have a Vista 64-bit ultimate edition PC with 4 gigs of ram, a Core2 Duo at 2.66 GHZ and a 300 gig hard drive. Simply loading windows since my BitDefender started to act up causes me to run out of memory after about 20 minutes with no programs loaded except bit defender and the OS itself.

I have already excluded all visible software through the msconfig utility, and I have also carefully monitored my memory usage. I tried shutting my virtual memory off to force my system to use my RAM, as it appears to only be using 1.3 gigs at any time.

This problem has never occurred in the year I have owned this system until I installed BitDefender and it subsequently locked and needed to be patched. I'm almost sure it's virus, and one that BitDefender can't locate.

When I look in my resource manager, I see vsserv.exe had a 2,654,920 KB listed under 'commit'.

Any ideas other than uninstall and reinstall?
