Windows Security Center Does Not Recognize That Antivirus Is Installed

Hello

I have windows Vista and Bitdefender internet security v10

It says in the windows security center

Firewall Disabled

And Antivirus disabled

But when I go into Bitdefender it seems to be working fine.

How come vista dont find that I have this program installed?

Does it mean That Bitdefender is not working properly?

I am using my computer on usersaccount but can also log in to administrator account if nessesary.

  • Hello ferk

This is a windows bug please follow the instructions that I gave here : windows security center

You can see if BitDefender is working when you take a look at the colour of the BitDefender icon it must be red.

  • Niels,

I think that there is a much easier solution:

    1. Temporarily disable the WMI service (Windows Management Instrumentation) in: Start >Run > type: services and find/stop the WMI service

    2. Next delete the C:\windows\system32\wbem\repository folder

    3. Restart the WMI service & restart the computer

When you re-boot, the HDD will thrash around for a few minutes to reconstruct this folder.

    Hi

The download link in the other Thread was old and did not work

How ever I did like this and it worked(I have swedish version so "services" did not work in "run")

    1. I started my computer in safe mode

2 Run "command" typed "net stop winmgmt"

    3. Deleted Repository map

    4. Run "command" typed "net start winmgmt"

    5. Restared my computer

  • Thanks

But I did not need to do that.

As you see in post 5 I managed to fix it that way instead.

  • Hello flerk

I saw it right now. I just read it quick.

I see what is wrong to view all your running services you have to type services.msc and not services which isn't a known windows command. So that was the problem why windows doesn't know that command.
