Numerous Problems After Windows 7 Upgrade

Hello. Ever since I upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit from Vista Ultimate 32-bit, I have been having issues with BitDefender. I did totally uninstall and reinstall BitDefender by the way. The first thing that happens is that occasionally the vsserv.exe service is corrupt... BitDefender reports it is not running, but it is running, just not responding. I can't even kill the vsserv.exe process as Administrator... it refuses to die. Services doesn't give me the option to start or stop it. The second problem is that my last system scan froze on a file for 6 hours until I had to kill it. Normally when I get up in the morning my 2am scan has been complete for hours, but after Windows 7, again virus scanning froze up. The last problem is that even though I have disabled anti-spam, BitDefender continues to scan my incoming and outgoing mail. Well not it's not because the service is corrupt, but when the service is not corrupt, it still scans my email.

I have tried to report this to BitDefender through the support site, but that was a joke. First, when I was logged into my account, I kept getting a database insert error on my submission. Then when I did it without being logged in, the security code box doesn't function properly. Even though I DID type in the exact correct security code, it reports that the security code didn't match. I tried that 16 times, typing the correct security code each time. It almost seems as if BitDefender web programmers purposely sabotaged the site so people could not submit support requests or bug reports.

Oh, another problem... vsserv.exe is now hogging CPU time, causing my CPU to run hotter than normal. 25% of my Quad cores? Are you kidding me?? It's been pinned at 25% now all day, and entering Game Mode, or changing any other setting has no effect on it. For Pete's sake.

  • Have you used their uninstall tool to completely wipe BD from the system before doing a new install?

    Yes I did.

But here's an update. After downloading a recent update. BD seems to again be the product I knew and love. CPU usage is like 1%... Virus Scanner doing deep system scan without problems. Ant-spam disabled as I wanted. All seems to be well now. And by the way, Windows 7 is great (but I loved Vista too, so maybe I am the minority).

Anyway, BD <i>seems</i> to be fine on Windows 7 now.

  • I still have the network module issue. I sent in a ticket for help on that as the forum is too slow for that.
