Bd 2010 No Connectivity

I am running 2010 Total Security on a Vista machine with no problems. After installing and registering on my machine running XP 32 bit, I am unable to get an internet connection. After uninstalling and reinstalling several times I loaded AVG which works fine and allows a connection. I want to get back to using Bitdefender. I have emailed the support desk, can you help please?

  • Hello whatsup,

    For start please uninstall AVG . In order to be sure that you remove all of their traces please use their uninstall tool from the next link.

    After that make sure that you disable the Windows Firewall and please install BitDefender following the next steps :

    1. Save and run first the uninstall tool from the next link and then reboot the PC:

    http://www.bitdefender.com/uninstall

    2. Save your product from the next link:

    http://download.bitdefender.com/windows/de...ty_2010_32b.exe

    - copy and paste the link into your browser and press [Enter].

    - a new window will appear with two options: [save] and [run] - press [save]

    - after saving the file, please run it in order to install it.

    3. Register it with your license key .

    If you still have the same internet connection issues please follow the steps bellow:

    -> Open BitDefender, go to Expert Mode and click on Firewall; Temporarily uncheck "Firewall is enabled". Now please test in order to see if the connectivity issue reoccurs.

    -> If it doesn't reoccur please re-enable the Firewall, then select the Network tab in the upper menu and click on the current "Network Type", pull down the drop-down menu and select "Trusted Local", Stealth to "No" and Generic to "Yes".Also, go to the Rules menu and look for an entry for your Internet Browser(Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera etc.) click on the "+" for that entry and check in order to see if it is set to Deny. If that is the case please double click on the entry and set it to Allow. Now test in order to see if you can connect to the Internet.

    If none of these steps helped you please follow the next link and download the tool which will help you uninstall the BitDefender Firewall: http://www.sendspace.com/file/sxn8nx .

    Start your computer in Safe Mode then run this tool:

    - restart the computer;

    - repeatedly press the "F8" key several times before Microsoft Windows begins

    to load (you need to press "F8" until you will be displayed a text menu);

    - select "SAFE MODE" in the text menu and press "Enter".

    - wait while Windows loads in Safe Mode; this process ends with a confirmation

    message; click "Yes" to acknowledge.

    After that start your computer normally and let us know if the same issue occurred.

    Thank you .
