Antivirus Freezes Comp At Startup

Hi, I just downloaded Antivirus 2010 yesterday. Now, every time I boot up my computer freezes at the desktop after 30 seconds, unless I get rid of vsserv.exe in the taskmanager. I gather that this file is an integral part of the bitdefender program.

I should mention that during the installation, bitdefender opened a window telling me I had avg installed and I should remove it first to avoid system instability. I did not do this because every time I have tried to uninstall avg my computer also freezes. I also have zonealarm...would this interfere with vsserv too?

What can I do?

thanks

  • Hello Oballef,

After installing any security solution (not only BitDefender) it is somehow normal that the computer performance will decrease. A major system slowdown occurs usually either when BitDefender is installed over another security suite (antivirus, antispam, antispyware, anti-adware, firewall) or when there are too many applications launched at system startup. At this point we have the following recommendations for you:

    1. Download the AVG removal tool from the next link .

    2. Run this tool in order to remove all traces of this program from your system.

    3. If the same issues occurs, please follow the steps described here and send me a PM with the download link .

    Thank you.
