Reduced Internet Speed With Bitdefender

Hi Guys

I have 50 MB Broadband. When I uninstall BitDefender I get the amazing speed that I'm suppose to be getting.

However when I install BitDefender the speed looses something like 20 MB .. so I'm down to 30 MB.

How do I fix this problem ?

Thank You.

  • Hello Ciwan,

    1. Open BitDefender, click on the Settings button and choose the Expert Mode .

    2. Click on the Firewall module and disable it temporarily.

    3. Test to see if you have the same issues.

    4. If everything is working as it should with this module disabled, please re-enable the Firewall and under the Settings tab, click on the Advanced Settings button and uncheck the "Intrusion detection System " option then click on Ok.

    5. Now, click on the Network tab, and set your local adapter Trust Level to Trusted Local, Stealth to Off and Generic to Yes .

    Let us know what happens.

    Thank you.

  • Sorry just to make things more clear.

When I disabled the Fire Wall, I did get the speeds that I should get.

However when I changed the settings and put the Firewall back (like you said in your first post) the speed went down again.

So the problem is the firewall, but what settings do I need to have in order to get the speed that I should get ?

Should I reset everything before testing the stuff in your second post ?

    Thank You.

    Ciwan,

Do you really expect that your computer will not get a little bit slower when the firewall and the anti-virus has to scan 50mb/s incoming data? Firewalls, virus scanners DO slow down computers. Maybe it is time to upgrade?

Just my two cents to the discussion.

    ;)

  • Hi Bodzio4062

I never thought of it that way to be honest !

What do you mean " maybe it is time to upgrade ? " ... time to upgrade to what ?

    Thanks

  • Bodzio are you there friend ?

  • Hello Ciwan,

We have sent you an email with the procedure that will help you overcome this situation.

Please reply back if you have any other questions.

    Thank you.

  • Hi Aurelian Neagu

Thanks for the Email. In the Safe Mode bit, you have told me this:

Browse to the 'C:\Program Files\BitDefender\BitDefender 2009' location and

    rename the 'httproxy.dll' file.

Restart the computer in Normal mode and check if the issue persists.

You have told me to rename that file ... but you have not said what I should rename it to ??? !!!

I'd greatly appreciate some clear instructions.

    Thank You.
