Suggestion: Automatic Transfer Of Configuration Settings When Updating To A New Version

Options

I have been using BitDefender Anti Virus for years without any problems, but every two years I have to go through the nightmare when the license for the old version expires and you need to uninstall it and install a new version. Uninstalling/installing is not a big deal but the problem is that all configuration settings are lost and you have to spend hours entering them manually in the new version. BitDefender already has configuration backup, here is how it looks for Anti Virus 2008 on my machine:

However, you can't transfer those settings to the new version because the files are designed as a backup for you current version, in case, for some reason you need to uninstall it and install again.

The suggestion for BitDefender team: can you create a Configuration Transfer Module that will be specifically designed to transfer all configuration settings between different versions of BitDefender.

Recently my license for AV 2008 has expired and I just refused to spend all night fulling around with all the settings that I did two years and forgot about since then. I just purchased the new version, AV 2010, sent email to Support asking for a registration key that would work with the old version, and will use AV 2008 for another two years (the registration key for AV 2010 wouldn't work with AV 2008).
