Bitdefender Breaks Third-part Software?
I'm not currently a BitDefender user; I'm trying to help a customer who's running BitDefender Internet Security 2010 and is having problems running our company's software.
As part of our software's initialization process, it modifies per-user registry settings corresponding to the AutoPlay control panel on Windows Vista and Windows 7. On this customer's machine, the software was abruptly terminated (with no error messages) whenever it attempted to do this. The information I was able to get suggested that BitDefender might be responsible, but since it was a remote machine not under our control, I was limited in what testing I could do.
Could BitDefender be responsible for doing this? I.e., does it try to detect unauthorized modifications to the Windows Registry or to Control Panel settings? Does it terminate applications that it thinks are behaving suspiciously?
