Pinging Problems

I have the 2010 BD and I can not ping, my VLC media player will not talk to the encoders in my network, and I have a sling box that will not show up on my pc that others in my network are able to watch. I am aware the VLC and Sling problem may not have anything to do with BD but I know that there were some problems with 2009 and pinging.

My windows firewall is off.
