Bitdefender Antivirus 2010 Fails To Initialize Scan

Hi,

I recently upgraded my computer to Windows 7 (32 bit) and I had Bitdefender Antivirus 2008 which stopped working. I assumed it was not compatible with Windows 7 and downloaded the 2010 version as a trial and registered it with an unused activation key.

It seems to have successfully installed, but now whenever I attempt to scan my system it fails. The interface is in expert mode, and no matter which method I use to scan, an error window pops up which says: "Failed to initialize the Antivirus Scanner. If the problem persists please access the BitDefender Customer Care at http://www.bitdefender.com/help." When OK is pressed it says: "Scan failed to execute. Please review the previous operation and try again." Attached are screenshots of the errors.

If anyone can help please let me know.

Thanks,

Mike

    Hi Mike,

In order to troubleshoot the issue you are encountering we would like you to follow the steps below:

    1. Click on Start and then choose My Computer/Computer.

    2. Browse to:

    C:\Program Files\BitDefender\BitDefender 2010

    - considering that BitDefender was installed on the default C partition

    3. Doubleclick on the supporttool.exe file - if you are using Vista or Windows 7, rightclick on the supporttool application file and select Run as Administrator

    4. Click on Next, wait a few minutes for the progress bar to complete and then click on Finish

    5. Go to the desktop and upload the file that was created by the SupportTool HERE

    6. Include a detailed description of the issue you are encountering and a screenshot of the error message, if there is one.

    7. Send me a PM (Private Message) with the download link for the log file created by SupportTool.

    Looking forward to your answer!
