Desktop And Icons Will Not Load On Restart

Installed Bitdefender 2011 on machine running Windows XP pro SP3 over the weekend. When starting it up the next morning the desktop did not load. ( Waited 20 min) While trying to troubleshoot it I noticed that if I restarted it the problem existed but if I did a shutdown and reboot the desktop would occasionally load. Have checked the firewall under expert mode, but can find nothing that would cause this problem. Booted in safemode and tried a scan, - nothing amiss. Any ideas?

Once I also faced this issue and eventually I managed to sort out to the issue by uninstalling "Indexing Service" from Add/Remove Windows components.
