Bitdefender Scan Crashed Xp

Options

I was on the internet the other night, I was on Wikipedia looking up something for school and Bitdefender started popping up that it had blocked a virus etc. Then it started saying SVChost was infected??

I accidentally blocked Iexplore - which put it on the untrusted applications list, but then I put it back on the trusted applications list. And I tested it by going back online to google.

I shut down all tasks then tried to run a full system scan, it wanted to upload a file so I allowed it, then it froze at :wub: about 50% through so I powered it off.

Today when I tried to boot the PC it got to where the XP logo pops up and the scan bar starts loading drivers then it freezes, I get a blue screen for a split second and it reboots. Then it comes up and wants to load safe mode or the last known good configuration. None of the options boot, safe mode or safe mode with networking.

I think my desktop has a virus, now XP won't boot. I have 2 HD in my PC one use to boot Vista and Ubuntu, they are both fine but the XP hard drive is my main HD.

I was wondering if I could dowload the latest rescue CD somewhere here and scan it. I have a feeling I am going to be going back to a old backup.

    Hello,

    You can find the instructions on how to scan using BitDefender Rescue CD in the article below:

    http://kb.bitdefender.com/site/article/627

    Furthermore, if you are able to start the PC, I would like to see a start-up autoruns log generated with the specific Microsoft tool, as explained below:

    a. Please go to this page http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinte...s/bb963902.aspx and download the autoruns file.

    b. Extract the contents of the downloaded file and run the 'autoruns.exe' file;

    c. Wait for the list to be filled with all the processes and then make sure that you have the Everything tab selected in the upper part;

    d. Click on the Disk icon right under File and chose any location folder on your computer;

    e. Save the file with a specific name (your name, computer name, a random name, which one you want) and then just attach it to the reply email and send it to us.

    We will analyze the information you sent and then reply with a possible solution.

    We are looking forward to hearing from you.

    Kind regards,
