Problem With Wireless Printer

Hi. Yesterday i bought an HP Deskjet 3050 (j610a) wireless printer and i cannot establish communication between pc and printer with the firewall on. I tried to solve the problem through the wizard by inputing the printer IP... Didnt worked.

Then i searched for tips to solve the problem, including in this forum but for older versions of Bitdefender. None of them worked

These are the topics i found in this forum:

What can i do? Downgrade to 2010 version and use these older topics? This is a frustrating situation...

Thaks in advance.

  • P.S. : i'm running windows 7 home edition 64 bit and the 2011 64 bit version.

  • What are your Firewall Module Settings?

  • Well, now i dont know... i tried to uninstalling and reinstalling bitdefender but the problem persisted. So i decided to install the 2010 version. Everything works fine and in my laptop, wich i hadnt even configured the printer, automatically detected it. This is very strange... Shouldnt the 2011 version work the same? I dont understand...

  • Hello Kenobipt,

    I believe that you haven't added the printer into BitDefender -> Firewall -> Devices that is why you couldn't access it. If you like, please upgrade to 2011 and follow the steps below. The issue should be resolved:

    - make sure you have the printer connected to the PC and turned on;

    1. Open BitDefender and switch it to Expert View from the Options button;

    2. Go to Firewall -> Devices;

    3. Click on "Refresh List" and wait few minutes;

    4. If the printer is not listed, click on the "Add" button;

    5. Type the printer's IP and click on "Allow";

    6. Test to see if the issue is now resolved.

    Looking forward to your answer!

    Well, that is something i tried too. I waited for very long minutes and nothing appeared. So i inserted the printer ip manually. And it didnt worked too. I searched every possible option. But thanks anyway. I guess i have to use the 2010 version.

    I have a different model of HP. I am also frustrated with the wireless settings, but I have another idea if the wireless settings dont work at all. You can use the port (usb ports if available).. but regarding the wireless feature, you should use your warranty..

  • Hello,

    I would prefer trying to resolve the issue with the 2011 version instead of downgrading to 2010. Kenobipt what exactly printer are you using ? What are your Firewall ->> Network settings ?

    Is the issue resolved if you disable Firewall ?

    Yes DanyDan, i would prefer to solve the problem with 2011 version. But i dont have time to try. At least until my vacations. My work is keeping me very busy. I cant remember the firewall settings, because 2010 version is different. And yes, the problem was solved by turning the firewall off.

    Here is a link to the printer support page: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product...product=4066452

    There is a guide for bitdefender firewall problems but its for the 2009 version. Completely useless. Thanks in advance...

    I think I have a solution for your case.

    As the new Bitdefender 2013 product suite was released, we would like to inform you that you benefit from a FREE upgrade to the latest version.

    Apart from the fact that the 2013 suite brings lots of new features and improvements, it will most likely solve any issues that you may have encountered with your previous Bitdefender product.
