First, if this is posed in the wrong fourm, my apologies. I tried to get it close. Also, I'll try to keep from ranting about how horrible Steam is to a minimum...
After installing a BDIS 2011 update sometime between June 10-June 20, Steam quit working. It worked fine before with minimal problems. When I try to open Steam (or a game that needs Steam to run... I love that I pay $50 for a game that will only run when Steam says it can) it will show up in the processes list of the task manager, but wont actually run. It just takes up 1/2 of my system resources and does nothing. Here is what I have tried to resolve the problem. And yes, I know BD is listed on steams website as having known issues, but it worked fine for months until about a week ago when a BD update installed. Steam didn't update, because at the moment I have limited internet access and didnt run Steam at the internet cafe...
I have:
    - disabled the reat time AV and FW protections (separately and together)
    - added all .exe files it the steam directory (and the individual games .exe) to all exclusion lists in BD. That includes the AV and FW main exclusion/rules list and the AVC/IDS exclusion list
    - Turned off AVC/IDS
    - activated game mode
    - uninstalled/reinstalled Steam
    - Hit computer with large stick (ok maybe not, but I've come close)
I am running out of ideas. I have been a loyal BD customer for years, but because Steam (commie bastards) has there fingers in so many games and I love games, if I can't fix this I will have to switch AV products
which I dont want to do... especially since I just renewed my license on 3 computers for 3 years.
I am going to use the BD uninstall tool and reinstall BD from scratch and see what happens.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Oh, and I hate Steam BTW...
