Antivirus Daily Scheduled Time Corrupted

Options

Since 6/25, BDA 2011 now starts scanning at 11:50AM instead of midnight.

The scheduler still shows the task is scheduled for midnight (12:00AM) but it starts at 11:50AM regardless.

I believe this has been caused by an automatic update that required rebooting.

This already happened to me mid April, also caused by an automatic update. I provided all the logs and screenshots by email as requested back then (Ticket ID:201104031003286) with never any answer about this issue.

Here's the summary and screenshot from the last mail:

  • View Logs|Antivirus|On-demand Tasks: Typo in "Scan task finished successfuly"
  • View Logs|Antivirus|On-demand Tasks|Double-click on a task|Task schedule: Typo, missing space after "scheduled for:"
  • View Logs|Antivirus|On-demand Tasks|Double-click on a task|Task schedule: Wrong date/time format. It is using French format and French day names when the previous line "Date" is in the correct English-US locale. The only thing French in my system is the default keyboard layout, my location is US, time zone Pacific GMT-8, user locale and display language English-US, and everything was set this way at the time of BDA installation and scan task scheduling.
  • View Logs|Antivirus|On-demand Tasks|Double-click on a task|Task schedule: Wrong scheduled time. The log says the next scheduled scan is in 7 hours instead of 24 (scan scheduled daily), plus the start time for the next scan task is actually using the minutes and seconds of the end time of the past task. Possibly linked to the above format issue.
  • Random start time of the scheduled tasks: This happens every time a scheduled task is interrupted manually. BitDefender Antivirus will then try to re-run the task a few hours later, or shortly after a reboot. It's totally random and unexpected: If the task is stopped, not paused, then BitDefender should try to run it at next scheduled time, not out of schedule.
  • If the scan is not stopped manually, then the next scan starts on schedule.

I'll uninstall and reinstall again since that got rid of the schedule corruption bug the last time, but there is definitely something wrong with the update process that you might want to look at, since this has now happened repeatedly with exactly the same symptoms.

Did tech support provide a solution? Can you describe it?

I've had a similar problem: scheduled weekly scans run about 10 hours later than the time I scheduled them for. I'm too new to BitDefender to connect it with a recent upgrade but it's been going on for about a month now, since late June/early July 2011. Instead of scanning while I sleep it ties up my PC while I'm trying to work.

None until 5 days ago, and the "solution" was to wait and upgrade to BDA Plus 2012, which is out just now.

I am still waiting for a free upgrade link though, I didn't see any on bitdefender.com, only paying download links for new customers.

Regardless, you can get rid of the schedule bug, at least temporarily, by uninstalling and reinstalling BDA Pro 2011.

Better download the uninstall tool from: http://www.bitdefender.com/support/How-to-...fender-333.html

Not sure why it's not integrated into the normal BDA install... :[

If it's still doesn't work, welcome to the community of users who are forced to sleep while BDA scans and work when it doesn't. ^-^

Apparently the typo bugs were escalated, most likely too late for BDA 2012, but no worry, there's plenty more on the BD site, such as:

If you currently have a valid license, you can upgrade now for FREE as I've explained in this post.

    Regards,

I know, I have been upgrading every year since BDA 2009.

I'm just complaining that the upgrade path for existing users is not advertized anywhere on the site. Every year I need to search for the download via the forums or the technical support.

By the way, your post points to Internet Security 2012. The link for BDA 2012 is probably here:

    http://download.bitdefender.com/windows/de...lus/2012/en-us/

Edit: I just noticed from the logs that the daily scan has not been running for over a week, and the anti-virus screen is totally corrupted, it lists only "My Documents Scan" in System Tasks, no more deep system scan, fast system scan and whatever 4 or 5 preset scans that used to be there!

Definitely getting rid of BDA 2011, although I am afraid I will still encounter the same issue in BDA 2012, since it has not been addressed. I don't believe in bugs disappearing miraculously.

Yes, the post I linked to contained the download link for BDIS 2012 and was meant as an example. I just created a pinned topic with all the BD 2012 English version direct download links.

    Regards,

  • Hello,

The issue has been address already Chimel and, on my end, do not reproduce. If you need assistance in installing the new BitDefender 2012 version please let me know.

    Kind regards,

  • Thanks, Daniel, this topic is indeed a non-issue for BDAV 2012.

I wouldn't say it has been addressed though, but it has certainly disappeared because there is no more scheduled scans in BDAV 2012!

Gary, thanks for the pinned post that also includes the uninstall tool. I saw it afterwards when browsing the Antivirus forum.

Even better if it were visible in the main site for all users, not just in the forum, but that's not something you can do.

Sorry I didn't reply earlier, I subscribed to this thread's notification but there was a stupid preempting email setting in my profile that prevented me from receiving all notification emails from all threads. So basically the "Enable email notification of replies" checkbox didn't work for me. I wish it would automatically enable this setting or that some warning would come up asking to change it.

  • You're welcome. :) Glad to be of help.

Sorry to 'jack' this thread, but I am having similar problems with my BDAV 2011 on two different computers: My Full Scan runs @ 9:54 PM instead of 1:00 AM that I have set in the scheduler. The Deep Scan has also ran at a different time than the set schedule.

I also had both Deep Scan and Full Scan running at the same time even though they are time scheduled several hours apart.

And I have had several (3 to 6) instances of the same scan running at the same time and could not stop or pause the scan. Not even from task manager. Had to reboot. At least this hasn't happened in a while.

From what I've read in this thread, the BD folks haven't come up with a fix other than install BDAV 2012? And it is a free upgrade, correct?

Hope this fixes it. I had been a Trend Micro user for years. Only reason I went to BD was due its outstanding rating, and watching Trend Micro work it way down the review list. I miss my old Trend. Never had program problems. <img class=" />

Thank you guys for this info. Will post results when I upgrade. :)

  • ... install BDAV 2012? And it is a free upgrade, correct?

Correct. As long as you have a valid license and your PC meets the minimum system requirements, you can upgrade to the comparable 2012 product (Antivirus, Internet Security, Total Security) for FREE.
