Bdmcon.exe Not Loading On Startup

Hi there

I cannot get bdmcon.exe to load on starting windows xp, whereas bdagent.exe loads fine. I think this means that the automatic updates are not active, even though that setting is enabled in the GUI. AND, (which is strange), bdmcon.exe is listed as a startup item in system config utility (statup tab). However, the app is definitely not running. (It is not listed in the Processes tab of Windows Task Manage.)

I wonder whether one of my programs is blocking it. I use Spybot S&D. BUT, I uninstalled SpyBot, and reinstalled Bit Defender to try to solve the problem, but without success.

Has anyone any ideas?

Hello Edward,

What version of BitDefender are you using? Because you said something about bdmcon, I assume you're using BDv10 (but what version of BDv10?)

Try to use the Uninstall Tool to remove BD from your system, and then try to reinstall it.

Also, you could try upgrading to BDv11 (2008). Upgrading is free is your license is still valid.

Did you used teatimer of spybot seach & destroy? If so it could be that you denied the startup of bdmcon.exe to load.

The best thing is using the uninstall tool what Cris suggested.
