Vsserve.exe Slowing Laptop After A Quick Scan

hi as usual, I am a new poster that only get in here to complain :).... so first things, I am very happy with bitdefender and I think it is a very good software. There, now am not just complaining :)

i have read the other Vsserve.exe posts and decided to start a new one as in my case, the problem seem to be specific.

I have a laptop DELL inspiron 9400, with XP and bitdefender 2011. I have had no problems with the software for months. In the last couple of weeks I have notices that my pc slows horribly due to Vsserve.exe taking down close to 50% of my CPU. However this only happens after my PC has done a scan. I have noticed this after one full scan and the last 2 quick scans . I cannot do anything about it other than restart my machine. As I cannot close the Vsserve.exe file or bitdefender itself, it does not allows me to do so.

After a restart, the problem goes away until the next quick scan...

Restarting my machine after every quick scan is easy but cumbersom, do you guys think I need to repair the installation? Is this an issue you are familiar with and has a quick fix?

Thanks and regards,

Richard.

  • Hello,

Yes, please repair BitDefender and let me know if the issue still persist. Do you have Windows XP installed including Service Pack 3?

What BitDefender specific product you use: Antivirus, Internet Security or Total Security ? Do you use a 32-bits or 64-bits PC ? Proceed with the repair and then, if the issue still persist, Follow the steps explained in THIS article then send me a PM with the generated log file along with a detailed description of the issue you encounter and the link to this topic.

    Looking forward to your answer!
