Outlook & Attachements Over 2mb
Hi,
we have a problem with the BD (not only me) - If I want to send an Email with an attachement which is bigger then 2mb, then I get an error message and outlook tries to send it again. But the email with error message was delivered. So if I do not delete the email after the first error, the receipient will get more then 20 the same emails (until I disable BD). Small attachments without any problems...
This problem has almost everybody in our company. We tried to change the ping times in outlook etc....
What is the reason?
Thx,
metah

Hello metah
What solution and version of BitDefender are you using?
How big are the attachments?
If you want to send large attachments you have to compress them or using an online file host. There are also time out settings by the mail server of your isp which you can't change. It could be that time out was reached and that the server retries sending the mails or the attachment file limit has been exceeded. Try to compress the large attachments.

What is the reason?
The reason is that, as Niels said, the mai, server waits a specific time for a reply fom you. Since that reply takes a little longer (because of the time needed by BD to scan the attachments), the serer will time out and close the connection.
Try this: (I use Outlook Express. If you have MS Outlook, settings might be different, but you should still find them) Open the Accounts window, select your account, open it's options and you should find somwhere an option called Server timeouts (in Outlook Express, it is in the Advanced tab). Move that slider at the right end of it (max timeout).
If this still doesn't work, then you could manually scan the attachment files before you attach them to an e-mail, and disable the Outgoing email scanning feature in BitDefender (on the Realtime Protection settings).
