Bitdefender goes into Maintenace mode?

This has happend to me abot 3 times since I have started using BD. I believe once on XP but not sure but atleast twice on Vista.

I will look down and the BD icon will be a diff color so I will open up BD only to see that BD has gone into maintenance mode and I can't turn the functions back on. I did not check the services. Now that im typing this I feel dumb for not checking the services.

Regardless, why does BD do this?

Thanks

Justin

  • Hi JGray152

That could happen after an update or when BitDefender "forget" to start them at startup. Normally when an update needs a reboot you must be noticed but sometimes you don't see that information screen. You are not the only one I sometimes have the same problem. Which I can solve by restarting the services of BitDefender or if that fails after a reboot.

Well this is software, and it can't forget. I can't recall if it does it on boot or not. Problem is, I need to have it runing all the time on my mothers laptop. She has no idea how to use BD let alone restarting services. So it needs to work. I hope this can be resolved soon

  • Hi JGray152

You can let your mother see at the icon of BitDefender. The red icon near the system clock. If she put the mouse pointer on it she will get informed. If the message is that something is disabled. Then the best thing she can do is just rebooting the pc. The problem is that this behaviour only happen sometimes. For me it's a while ago that I had this issue.

  • About BD going in the maintenace mod, just restart the pc dude.

As for the guy with his mother which doesn't know how to repair disabled modules here is what u can teach her:left mouse click on the ''red icon near the system clock" press exit then double click the BD shortcut on the desktop wich will enable back all modules.

PS:U can just hate updates but u need them. :)

  • Hi mihai romanian

You are right but sometimes BitDefender can access one of his services so you can't enable it by restarting the BitDefender related services. Because this might be to difficult for his mother the best thing is just rebooting if what you suggested fails.
