Sorry Already

A few weeks ago, after reading many raving reviews I switched from Kaspersky Internet Security to Bitdefender Total Security 2012. Only after paying for a 3 licenses, I found 3 serious flaws in this software:

1. You cannot tell it what action to take when malware is found

2. You cannot set the scan schedule

3. You cannot set the update schedule

This is absolutely ridiculous. So even though I still have about a year left on 3 licenses, I'm back to Kaspersky Internet Security (which also has a very nice sandbox option btw).

You win some, you lose some...

  • Hello,

    - BitDefender 2012 has a new scanning process that makes the scheduled scans somehow useless;

    - The schedule scan option was escalated to the Dev. Team as requested by some of our users;

    A new feature which can provide better protection has been introduced called Auto Scan. It uses a Continuous Scan task, enumerates all files and finds time slices when system resource usage falls below a certain threshold to perform recurring scans of the entire system. (e.g. if the PC is Idle for a long time, the entire system will be scanned)

    Best regards,

  • That is all very innovative, but while you are at it, explain to your Dev. Team that they should not try to take away the control of a PC from the owner of the machine.

    I pay, I decide.

    Hi

    Sorry for the delayed reply.

    You can always send all the infected files to quarantine.

    Open Bitdefender, click on Settings and select the Antivirus module from the left side.

    Select the Shield tab and click on the Modify button.

    Under Actions please select Move files to quarantine.
