Bitdefender2009 "error Intitialozing Threat Scanner"

I'm running BitDefender Total Security 2009 and the virus scanner no longer runs. When I start a manual scan I get the error message: "Error intitializing threat scanner. Please contact BitDefender support". (yes, initializing is misspelled in the official error message.). When the scheduled virus can automatically runs, I get the error message "The scanning process was not started in the required time interval." At this point, it appears my bit defender virus protection isn't doing anything. Any suggestions on how to solve this problem?

    Are you running BDTS 2009 on an older PC (just wondering why you haven't upgraded)? I am intentionally running BDAV 2009 on a 10 year old laptop.


    Have you installed any other security program(s)? If not, I would recommend trying to do a Repair of BD. This will reset all settings to default, so take the time to note them down first.


    How long have you had BDTS 2009 installed on the PC?
