Bit Defender Quit!

I installed BD total Security 2012 yesterday and it worked fine even this AM. Now, the icon on the tray has vanished. When I click the icon on the desktop, it does not load. I have to right click on the icon and click "Open." It shows green and that everything is OK, except, everything is shut off, even Auto. If I turn everything on, close it and re-open, everything is shut off again. Also it takes forever for it to close which it never did before. Any suggestions as to what has caused this?
