Bitdefender Question On Internet Blockage
I tested BitDefender a while back including the 2012 Beta as I was looking for a good security suite to run on a computer that would be streaming an online broadcast.
However I gave up after finding that the product seemed to block all internet access - other users had this issue and it seemed it was going nowhere fix wise.
However I was impressed with the overall design and features so thought I would come back and find out from the users if this issue is fixed. Some of the stuff e.g. sandbox browsing, social network protection, sounded pretty impressive but it was no good at the time with no internet access.
So has this problem been rectified?

I am a very new user to BitDefender but from my experience with it so far, I have no problems streaming video. I watch news casts online, movies and tv series from hulu.com and several other sites like cnn etc...
I have purchased the Sphere 2012 unlimited license and installed the Total 2012 software on my windows XP Pro desktop and my Windows 7 Ultimate Laptop and have no problems connecting to the internet wirelessly or to my local network I setup. I wanted to be sure before I purchased that things would work, I would suggest downloading the trial and check it out for yourself before buying or upgrading if you have an older version.
I also do not notice any slow downs of my computer or page loads with firefox. There is a delay in startup and shut down but for me nothing really big there. As long as I can use my computer and it is not locked up while scans take place or it updates itself I am fine with shut down and startup delays. Now if it was 5 minutes or something it would be a pain but at least on my computers it isn't that long before I am in my desktop working.
Also I read about sleep and wake up issues reported in the forum but testing on my laptop with sleeping waking up and hibernation there was no problems what so ever.
The sandbox for browsers only works in Windows 7 for me, it's a shame because I mostly use my XP Pro desktop computer.
I have only been using the product for a couple days so longer term I don't know but so far everything is working fine and I actually don't really notice it, which is how it should be.0 -
