Bitdefender 2012 Memory Creeper

When I performed a virus scan using bitdefender Total Security 2012, It took over 1600 MB of memory. After the scan, it did not release that memory and now is slowly creeping up to 1900 MB. The memory appears to be consumed by vsserv.exe process. Is this normal?
Isn't the RAM suppose to be flushed once the bdf scan is completed?
