Live Cd Update Problem
The old Live CD stopped working. Could not update virus signature file.
I downloaded and burned a new Live CD, but it also cannot update the virus signature files.
I've tried pointing the settings to
http://download.bitdefender.com/updates/update_av32bit/
but that didn't work either.
How can we get the live disk to work?

Hello
The update is working, but you need to have a direct connection to the internet.
Do you have a router or a WI-Fi connection?
Thank you.0 -

Yes. It is a wired connection. The connection is fine. I can bring up a terminal on the live disk, and I can get a ping reply from google.com.
The Live CD does not seem to be able to pull the update off the server. Any suggestions for the server setting?0 -
Hello
You need to leave the default settings for the update module. There is no alternative location. The server will redirect you to the nearest mirror to download the updates.
Also, you can try the new Rescue Mode from Bitdefender 2012:

The reason I tried using an alternate update path is becaus the scanner is not working. I threw out the disk for the earlier version live CD because that stopped working also.
Here's how it goes for me.
I start the PC with the live disk, and it opens up and we download a bunch of files.
Then it stops and i get a dialog box stating:
Error
update error: the communication with the update server was broken
this happens on file emalware.458
I close that window, and the on demand virus scanner opens. It informs me it is loading virus engines / please wait.
Then it closes.
I reopen it from the desktop icon and I see a dialog box with:
Error
update error: an nexpected error code was generated (-1009)
I close that dialog box, try to run a scan and
I see a message: loading anitivirus engines.
Then the scanner closes again.

I just tried the live CD on a different computer, and it made it through the update ok.
Must be an issue with that particular computer.
