P2P Network Issue

I have been using BD AV on my own PC for several months now w/o problem and recommended it to a co-worker.

Mon 4/23 - He removed Norton AV and Windows Defender, ran CCleaner, and installed BD, . No issues except for 1 other user complaining of somewhat slower access.

Mon 4/30 - Programs not opening on start-up as they did before, noticeable slowdown accessing programs

Tue 5/01 - Accessing info on his PC was nearly impossible not only for him but for anyone else as well. (We are a small collision repair business and have a management system and estimating system, with his PC acting as the server for these apps, which 4 other PCs can also access). B/c no real issues since 4/23 install until this week, we contacted software Tech Supp. Nothing suggested solved problem, and this was after 3 hours on phone, so they tried everything. Finally, they suggested removing BD to see if it was the issue, and that solved the problem.

My questions:

Did an update occur over the weekend or something that could have caused our problems?

Can anyone help me with reinstalling BD AntiVirus by giving me an idea of the proper settings for a P2P network with heavy sharing?

I know just enough about networking to be dangerous, ;) so please keep this in mind with your response, as I may not be familiar with all the jargon. Thanks in advance for any help offered.

  • That could have happened because of an update; Anyway, that can happen if it is set to scan big files, because it will open wach file and scan him after viruses, and it takes some time opening a big compressed file.... Updates should solve problems, tot create new ones... but who knows? ;)
