Deleting Shortcut From Desktop

Hi


I have an old shortcut from an already uninstalled program on my desktop. I'm now having problems deleting the shortcut, as everytime I try to delete it, an error message saying "The action can't be completed because the file is open in BitDefender Virus Shield".


Can you please help me to rectify this problem as I have tried numerous times and I failed every single time.
