Help with firewall and winamp
I installed the latest version of Winamp 5.34, so I could listen to AOL XM Radio. I can see the stations listed in the media library, but when I click on one, it attempts to connect, then says "Timed out". I've tried many other stations with same results. I think my BDIS firewall might be blocking it from making the connection, but not sure how to check, and how to allow it. Sorry, I am not savvy on firewall settings, or on the process of streaming music from winamp. Any help would be appreciated.

You should open BitDefender and then click Firewall and then "Trafic". See if winamp is allowed to establish TCP/UDP connections in both ways, on any ports and on any addreses.

Also, it's not enough to see that Winamp has a rule in the Firewall. Even if you allow full access to Winamp, but it uses some ports that are blocked by other rules, Winamp will not have access to those ports.
In the Firewall list, the rules are listed based on their priority (the first rule has the highest priority, the last has the lowest).
To change the priority of a rule, open BitDefender Management Console, go to Firewall -> Traffic and click on Edit Profile. In the window that appears you'll see two lists: Inbound and Outbound. Search for the Winamp rule in both lists and move it to the top (click on the Black arrow which points up). After that, click OK, close the Management Console and Winamp should have real FULL access to the internet.
If this doesn't fix it, please give us some more details (like the exact stream address you are trying to connect to).
Post if it worked.

Hi,
Sorry I couldn't get back to you sooner. Thanks for the replies btw! Ok, I have tried moving the winamp processes (there were two) to the very top of the inbound and outbound lists. It is still trying to connect, then says Timed out. The following is the url it is attempting to connect to:
uvox://firehose-bbnm.stream.aol.com/stream/22221?authToken=r%3D9034935%26sid%3D21721%26expires%3D1178559487598%26csum%3Da515bdf250d8adffb02edf527de8129d&uid=WA-C78ADC102DF64C17842484F17D3041D6&sessid=41652CD17ED242188334A73F009D61240 -
Hi Fallstar,
I tried the link you posted. I also get Timed out with Winamp and XMPlay (actually, I use XMPlay). I tried to disable BD Firewall, but I got the same result. I don't know if BD blocks the connection (I also saw that the link you posted need authentication, so that might be a problem as well).
Did it ever work?
I'll make some more tests, to see if BD blocks this connection, but I doubt it, cos I can listen to on-line radio without any problems (using both XMPlay or Winamp).

Thank you for your help! I am still unable to get it to work, but I will post something on Winamp's forum, and hopefully it won't get lost in that massive forum.0
