Big Firewall Problem

edited June 2012 in Firewall

The firewall is blocking my apps that connect to the internet and when i allow them, it still blocks them anyways even though i have added them to exceptions in firewall and anti virus... Very annoying... 2012 didnt have this problem at all.

Edit: I even tried turning off every single protection and in my eyes should make it impossible for BitDefender to interfere, but nope i guess turning it off does nothing...?

i have this issue to.. and i didnt have this problem in 2013 beta version

  • I have a suspicion that this is what is causing my iTunes to not be able to connect either even though I added exceptions and even turned off the Firewall.

    I couldn't connect to iTunes until I uninstalled bdis 2013. <img class=" />

Check the thread that has the word "iTunes" in it. It lists a solution. You have to delete the parental controls from services (using sysinternals) and from the winsock registry entries. Although it seems to me to be an undesireable solution, it DOES work.

  • We had similar problems at home but with different application.

2 different PC's where the application ran perfect on 1 and not at all on the other.

We checked firewall applications rules, checked that we had same settings but

nothing helped, not even turning off the firewall.

We then uninstalled, restarted and application then worked. Reinstalled, made

sure to remove all rules, restarted application and we had same problem back!

Now in one thread i saw mentioned "Recommended Settings" for internet traffic,

saying that in "Adapter Setting" it should be set to Stealth mode = Off

    and Generic = Yes

Just for curiousity we tried this, restarded and to our surprise the application is now working!

Can anyone plz explain the reason for this to us? I didnt need to set this on my other PC.

If your version has updated to 16.16.0.1349, it should fix the issue with i Tunes automatically.

    @ HappyFace

Do you have paranoid mode turned on? Did you created exclusions for those applications?
